Mastery- Terms of Use
Content Guidelines & Community Standards
Last updated: 12/04/2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of mymasteryapp.com (the “Platform”), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY] (“Mastery”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
These Terms apply to all users. Instructors are also bound by our separate [Instructor Agreement], which governs commercial terms, content licensing, and payout arrangements.
1. About Mastery
Mastery is an online marketplace that connects independent instructors with learners. Mastery provides the technology platform, payment processing, and marketplace infrastructure. Instructors are independent third parties who create and deliver their own courses — Mastery is not the provider of the courses themselves, and does not employ instructors.
2. Your account
To use the Platform you must:
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
3. Purchasing courses (learners)
When you purchase a course, you enter into a contract with Mastery for access to that course on the Platform. Prices are shown in GBP (or your local currency equivalent where supported) and include applicable taxes.
Access and delivery. Access to purchased content is granted immediately on successful payment and remains available via your learner dashboard, subject to these Terms.
Consumer rights. Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, digital content is exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation right once you begin accessing it and have given consent to waive the right. By starting a course, you acknowledge this waiver. Our goodwill refund policy (below) goes beyond this legal minimum.
Refund policy. We offer a 30-day refund window from the date of purchase. Refund requests may be declined where a significant portion of the course has been completed or downloaded, or where we identify patterns of refund abuse. To request a refund, email [SUPPORT EMAIL] with your order number and a brief reason.
4. Instructor responsibilities
Instructors are solely responsible for:
Full instructor terms are set out in the [Instructor Agreement].
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, without refund where breach is material.
6. Intellectual property
Platform content. All Platform software, design, branding, and original Mastery-created content is owned by [LEGAL ENTITY] and protected by UK and international intellectual property law.
Instructor content. Course content is owned by the instructor who created it. When you purchase a course, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and view that content for your own learning purposes. You may not download (except where expressly permitted), copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from course content without the instructor’s written consent.
User-generated content. When you submit reviews, Q&A posts, or other content to the Platform, you grant Mastery a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Platform. You retain ownership of your content and are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit it.
7. Reviews and community content
Reviews must be honest, relevant, and based on your own experience of a course. We may remove reviews that are abusive, defamatory, off-topic, or appear to be fake. We do not edit reviews to alter their meaning.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the Platform available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, modify, or withdraw features for maintenance, security, or operational reasons. Where possible, we will give advance notice of planned downtime.
9. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid to Mastery in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £100.
We are not liable for:
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if your account is inactive for an extended period, or if we reasonably believe termination is necessary to protect the Platform or other users.
On termination, your licence to access paid content ends, except that learners who have already purchased a course will retain access to that content for a minimum of 90 days from the date the course is removed from the Platform or the instructor’s account is terminated, whichever is later. Mastery may, at its discretion, continue to provide access for longer and will give reasonable notice before any content is removed.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or via a prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers in other jurisdictions may have the right to bring claims in their local courts under local law.
13. Contact
For questions about these Terms, contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] or write to [LEGAL ENTITY] at [REGISTERED ADDRESS].
